It is your awareness and intention that gives meaning and satisfaction to daily activities. You have the opportunity to see rituals or routines. Rituals can be found within simple tasks as well as in sacred ceremonies. Rituals help you:

  • Find deeper satisfaction in your actions.
  • Experience moments of grace.
  • Be more present and aware of yourself.
  • Turn the mundane into wonder.

Through a series of guided workshops, you'll examine how simple pursuits and being in the experience unites you with your joyfulness. And you'll look at how coupling these practices can lead to a more sustained outcome of happiness.

3 Nights at Menla: Tibet in the Catskills

Vegetarian Meals

Tea and Light Refreshments

Everything cycles, like the seasons. Right now, you are moving through cycles in your life. Winter is a time of reflection and renewal. It is a season of shelter to go inward, to cull the seeds of inner peace, and set intentions for the coming spring.  It is a sacred occasion to commune with self and encourages tending your inner fire through the warmth of kinship.

The world is better when more people are happy

SEASONAL IMPORTANCE

Menla is a Tibetan retreat center nestled below Panther Mountain. It lies on 325 acres of the private nature reserve at the head of a breathtaking glacial valley in one of the most beautiful parts of the Catskills.

It is also the site of the oldest known meteor impact crater on Earth. Prior to Dutch and European settlers, the local Native American peoples, including the Esopus and Mahicans, regarded this valley and region, with its enormous first-growth hemlock trees, as especially sacred, a place of the spirits.

They never settled here and only used the valley for ceremonial purposes.

Menla is spectacular in its history and all it affords with access to the land and nature. It is truly an enchanting place to be in all seasons.
